Looking down on Kuksadang, we can also see one of the many shaman-Buddhist temples in this shaman village, and part of downtown Seoul.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The gate to a small village temple. The door shows the indigenous beliefs that Koreans held long before Buddhism arrived: the painting is of the crater at the peak of Mount Baekdu (in North Korea), where the father of Dan-gun, Korea's first king, descended from Heaven in B.C. 2333.
